Re: (urgent!) No access to lastpass - Authenticator broken since 2.0.3 update

I have just received an email from Last Pass Support that says:-

Thank you for contacting LastPass Customer Care and for taking the time to report the issue with your authenticator. We are happy to inform you that a resolution has been implemented and your support case is now resolved.

The original support ticket was raised on the 24th July 2021, it only took 6months (less 4 days) to fix this...

I will now have to start using my Apple Watch to authenticate my LastPass log in and (hope) that what they say is correct...

Re: (urgent!) No access to lastpass - Authenticator broken since 2.0.3 update

Good to hear .. hopefully it will finally be fixed.

I figured that since I had now discovered it was possible to configure multiple 2FA apps, and that I could use both Google and Authy for the second option, I have decided to give LastPass Authenticator another try, since I do miss the Apple Watch facility.

I've tried to reconfigure it as:

 - Primary 2FA - LastPass Authenticator

 - Alternative 2FA - Google Authenticator (although I can actually get the code from either Google or Authy)

Unfortunately after a couple of attempts, so far I get the notification from LastPass Authenticator however when I click on Accept it never completes the authentication. If I get a code from LastPass Auth, it tells me the code is wrong.

Happily the Alternative 2FA option is working perfectly with either Google Auth or Authy generating working codes.

I'll have to have another go at deleting and setting up the LastPass Authenticator, or place a new support call.

Re: (urgent!) No access to lastpass - Authenticator broken since 2.0.3 update

@hounddog

I tried to set up a second 2FA for access to the LastPass exactly as you have tried.

I have not been able to get another 2FA system (Google Authenticator or Authy) to generate the same 2FA codes to gain access to Last Pass, they fail when I have sent them up.

It appears from my own testing that if you have Last Pass Authenticator selected for 2FA access to Last Pass then you cannot use a second method, even though it lets you set one up.

If you do manage to get this working please come back and let me know what steps you took to get it working.

Thank you.

Re: No access to lastpass - Authenticator broken since 2.0.3 update

You're wasting your time.  DUMP lastpass.  They do not care in the slightest about customer service or support, as a PAYING customer you can't even get email support.  DUMP lastpass, it's a joke.

Re: (urgent!) No access to lastpass - Authenticator broken since 2.0.3 update

Unfortunately, this has NOT been fixed 😥

This morning, taking a risk and with great hesitance, I approved access to my Last Pass using my Apple Watch, the access did not approve on my desktop and when I looked, all data from my Last Pass Authenticator on my iPhone had vanished...

Thankfully, recovered from backup.

Frustrated is just not the word...

Re: (urgent!) No access to lastpass - Authenticator broken since 2.0.3 update

Sounds very familiar. I haven’t dared try the watch app since I fixed my access in December. I’m sure if I do the 2FA would break. I looked at Bitwarden but it doesn’t have such a convenient authentication experience and more importantly doesn’t have the identities feature so for me a no go. What did make me hang on was the note saying LastPass had brought itself out from under LogMeIn so hoping for positive developments in future.
