new windows 11 laptop - can ping it, can't browse

As in the subject, i am trying to connect to a new windows11 laptop (Dell Vostro).

i can ping it OK and have a chat with it but can't browse.

the diagnose function shows no errors for that peer.

i have shared a folder and i can see that via windows explorer when it's on my local network but i still can't see it via Hamachi.

i can go to the w11 machine and browse my own w10 laptop OK via Hamachi.

i have tried uninstalling completely  and reinstalling from scratch.

the diagnostic shows everything is OK.

Summary report
------------------------

Test name: Peer Result: [GREEN] -> OK
Details:

Tunnel: OK

Local results:
Adapter configuration: OK
Traffic test: OK
Peer results: [269-770-138]
Adapter configuration: OK
Traffic test: OK

---------------------------------------------

the only "anomaly" i can see is that the w11 version of Hamachi (2.3.0.78) is more up to date than my w10 machine (2.2.0.663) but if i try to check for updates on my pc, it says i'm already running the latest version!!!  i'm wary of reinstalling v2.3 on my w10 pc in case there's an issue and i lose connection to the other existing machines on my network.

what else can i try?

TIA

K

Re: new windows 11 laptop - can ping it, can't browse

ok, i've sussed it.

during my frantic attempts to work out what was going wrong, i inadvertently must have  switched off the w11 machine asking for login/password verification for remote logins.  as i didn't have an account on that PC, it didn't ask for one - it just rejected my request.

so i set up myself as an admin, then it connected quite happily.

panic over!
