Windows 10 PIN number?

Trying to get log me in installed for a user & his passsword isn't working.

Upon digging, I come to find out that rather than a password, he opted for the PIN number that's tied to his email account, when originally setting up his laptop out of the box.

Is there a way around this?

    Was this a Windows security PIN?  Does the user not have access to that email any longer?
