flagging VIP customers
I need to flag certain incidents which come in from managers, heads of departments, etc. If I have a new starter on a helpdesk, I hardly want him/her to remember the VIP customer by heart right away. ...

You could use the Notes section under Additional Details in the customer section. Those notes will appear when the User clicks on the customer in the dashboard.
