Do monitors have to be connected?

Does the computer I am logging into actualy have to have a monitor or monitors connected? Thanks!

Any special settings that you know of?  I have a user that was uanble to see their 2nd screen until I connected an monitor to it.

If the computer was cold booted headless, then it should only be a single monitor setup. If you unplugged the monitors without rebooting, it may still think there are two monitors and you would use the monitor switch (on the LMI toolbar) to switch between the monitors.
