Please note:  Beta is not accessible for EU hosted accounts at this time.  Additionally, sign-in will not work with SSO authentication unless SSO has been configured on Beta. 

 

Enhanced Admin Group Permissions:   

Master Admins now have the ability to restrict access to individual tabs in the Admin Center. The benefit is more flexibility to delegate tasks by allowing admin access to job-specific functions without exposing other areas of the Admin Center – improving privacy and reducing Administrator confusion. Master Admins can now also group admins by job function, further expanding the usefulness of Administrator Groups.  For example, a group of Admins could be configured to only create and edit users within the Tech Groups they are assigned to, or only run reports.

 

Configuration:

  • Master Admins sign-in to beta.logmeinrescue.com using their existing Rescue credentials
    • NOTE – sign in will not work with SSO authentication unless SSO has also been configured on beta
  • Create a new Admin Group, or access the Organization tab for an existing Admin group
  • On the organization tab the radio button “restricted administrator rights” can be selected under permissions
  • Master Admins can then elect which areas of the Admin Center to grant access to:

  • Note: Ensure the admin being used to test this new feature is placed within the correct admin group ,and is then also placed within the relevant Technician group(s) they should have access to.
  • Note: Please also be aware of the global setting “Show Technician Groups only to assigned Administrators” which must be used in order to prevent the admin seeing the rest of the groups they are not assigned to.
  • When the admin logs in they will now see a restricted view of the admin center with functions limited to the tabs they can access.

 

Group Level Custom Fields

Previously, Rescue accounts were provided 5 Custom Fields at the Global-level. We have now expanded this to allow for 5 Custom Fields per Tech Group,  greatly expanding the end-user information that can be captured at the start of a session – either via a channel form, or manually entered by the Technician. This is especially useful where Tech Groups are separated by function, support type, or geo, and additional unique information is required.

 

Configuration:

  • Master Admins/Admins sign in to beta.logmeinrescue.com using their existing credentials
    • NOTE – sign in will not work with SSO authentication unless SSO has also been configured on beta
  • Access “Custom Fields” under the Tech Group Settings tab
  • Note: By default, the names of these fields are inherited from those defined under Global Settings
  • Admins/Master Admins can now overwrite these names as necessary
  • Note: The max number of custom fields that can be selected per group is still 5 – we have not expanded this limit
  • Once the new Custom Fields have been configured, users can start a session to see the changes
