The Rescue Team is pleased to announce extended Linux OS Support! You may remember back in July when Linux Support for Ubuntu was released (read more here) - there are additional features and supported OS that have been added to include the following:
- Calling Card for custom channels
- Verified support for Debian 11, Debian 12, IGEL Linux 11, Arch Linux (GNOME 3 + KDE), Pop!_OS 22.04 LTS, Linux Mint 21.2
- Fix for the Black Screen issue during remote control or desktop view session on Wayland in Ubuntu 22.04
- Extended support for older hardware, no longer requiring FMA and AVX2 CPU instruction sets
Which distribution and version of Linux is now supported?
- Ubuntu LTS version 20.04 and above (currently 20.04, 22.04 and 23.04)
- Debian 11, Debian 12, IGEL Linux 11, Arch Linux (GNOME 3 + KDE), Pop!_OS 22.04 LTS, Linux Mint 21.2
Introducing Calling Card for Custom Channels
- Until now, the Linux user could request help by the Rescue Calling Card only by using a PIN provided by the Rescue Technician. With the new update, a Calling Card can be downloaded for specific channel and distributed to the Linux user, who can install it and use the Channels tab in it to request help from the Technician who is assigned to that channel anytime without the need from PIN.
- After installation of the new Calling Card package, its updates will be automatic, fetched from package repository packages.goto.com
- Also, the Technicians can customize the Calling Card according to their branding needs , in the limits that are now possible for the Mac applet as well.
Verified support for Debian 11, Debian 12, IGEL Linux 11, Arch Linux (GNOME 3 + KDE), Pop!_OS22.04 LTS, Linux Mint 21.2
- Our team validated and/or verified that our Linux applet and Calling Card can also be used for other operating systems closer to Ubuntu : Debian 11 and 12, IGEL Linux 11, Pop!_OS 22.04 LTS, Linux Mint 21.2, Arch Linux on Gnome 3 and KDE Desktop Managers.
- This expands our support and reaches to more customers and prospects. The support for these Linux distributions was requested by customers and prospects and our validation proved that Rescue works for them as well.
- Completed support for Ubuntu 20.04 LTS and above (currently 22.04 and 23.04)
- We fixed the Black Screen issue during remote control or desktop view session on Wayland in Ubuntu 22.04 and other smaller fixes.
- The Linux applet and Calling Card work without issues on the above mentioned Ubuntu versions for both display servers X11 and Wayland.
- We also extended the support for older hardware, no longer requiring FMA and AVX2 CPU instruction sets. With that, the Linux applet will also work in Oracle VirtualBox for example.
What's Next?
- Unattended Access
- Screen Lock
- Reboot and reconnect
