Presenter no sound but has Green when mic is on - webcast and coming from an exernal company

Hi, I have issues with external presenters when using webcast.  They do have security protocols for their company, but was able to download GoToWebinar and run it which I thought was strange.

They have the green mic showing, but no sound is coming through. From troubleshooting, they only have 1 mic and audio to select. They can hear me when I talk. I feel like it's something in their security permissions blocking from using microphone with GoToWebinar.

When they tried to launch webcam, it also said webcam being used in another program.

I recall something similar has happened with another company - could it have to do with their security and not allowing camera, or sound to be used within the app?

Has anyone else come across this with a presenter not able to have sound?

  • Hi bechammond, welcome to the community.

It is possible this was security software on the attendee's side, but like you I would expect that they would not even be able to download and install the GoTo Webinar desktop software. If a similar situation happens again the attendee could switch audio mode to Telephone and dial into the conference call.

Thanks Glenn - just thought it was strange as I can normally work around their issues troubleshooting.

I had 11 presenters, and while I did check out the dial in to Audio option and tested it as well, it was going to be too hard with that many people. I ended up pre recording on Teams and launching it as a video for the webinar.
