Smartcard access remotely?

My host Computer has a slot for a smartcard, required for certain functions. I have always assumed that  I can not use the card remotely even using the same type of keyboard. Is this still the case or is there a workaround?

    Anon23462 While I haven't actually tested a Host system with smartcards, you should be able to access data therein.  Can you be specific what purpose the smartcard is used for?  Have you already tried to access it while remotely connected?
