GoToMyPC Printer issue with Win11 24H2
Using the latest GoToMyPC host installer for Windows 11 running 24H2. It seems that, for a client running MacOS Sequoia (15.x), the GoToMyPC printer is not automatically installed. In addition, a manually created printer using the GoToMyPC port doesn't work. In both cases, the "Cannot Print" dialog pops up when trying to print anything.
For the same Win11 24H2 host, the remote printer DOES install OK and is usable from Win11 clients (tested clients running both 23H2 and 24H2).
For the same MacOS 15.x client, the remote printer DOES install OK and is usable when connecting to a Win11 23H2 host!
What needs to be done to support remote printing between MacOS clients and Win11 24H2 hosts?
UPDATE: This made it start working. So your development team will ultimately need to update the novaPDF OEM drivers into the GoToMyPC Windows installer.
Visit NovaPDF's downloads page (www.novapdf.com/previous-versions.html)
2. Click Download next to 'novaPDF 11' (other versions will NOT work)
3. Double click 'novapdf-full.exe'
4. Follow prompts to complete the installation
5. Navigate to C:\Program Data\GoToMyPC\PDFPrinterSetup
6. Double click 'PDFPrinter' and follow prompts to completion
7. Double click 'PDFPrinterDriver' and follow prompts to completion (clicked OK to error about incompatible Windows version)
9. Navigate to Control Panel\Programs\Programs and Features
10. Check that "GoToMyPC Print Assistant" is listed
11. Right click novaPDF11
12. Click Uninstall
13. Test printing with Print Assistant on Mac clientNote: In some cases, you might also need to start the NovaPDF Service, if it's not running for some reason.

UPDATE: I may have spoken too soon! In trying your second set of troubleshooting steps installing 'novapdf-full.exe' from Softland's website, Print Assistant is now installed, and I was able to do some initial remote test printing! I believe your development team just needs to update their OEM packaging of the novaPDF drivers and that will ultimately fix this issue!

Also, I did also try your steps for downloading novaPDF 11 'novapdf-full.exe' from the novapdf.com/previous-versions.html. That installed OK and shows up in add/remove programs as "novaPDF 11 Tools". However, I get the same error as before on step 7 during install of PDFPrinterDriver.

Not sure if my previous reply got posted OK, so I am retrying. Neither the Print Assistant nor NovaPDF were listed in add/remove programs. For step 5, PDFPrinter installed to completion. However, step 6 install of PDFPrinterDriver fails with an error "novaPDF 11 cannot be installed on this Windows version".

I couldn't find a way to upload the screenshot image. The warning dialog is titled "novaPDF OEM 11 Printer Driver", followed by a warning icon and "novaPDF 11 cannot be installed on this Windows version", then an OK button.

I finally got to try your troubleshooting steps. I believe the problem is that the PDFPrinterDriver MSI is not yet compatible with Win11 24H2. GoToMyPC Print Assistant did not naturally install during the initial GoToMyPC installation. So for steps 1-3, neither Print Assistant nor NovaPDF are listed in installed apps. I did steps 4 and 5, and the PDFPrinter MSI appeared to install OK. However, running step 6 PDFPrinterDriver MSI, I get the attached error. Please advise further.

Thanks! I’ll try that and see if it helps.

They got back to me, There are currently no compatibility issues with Mac OS and Win11 24H2.
One thing they pointed out, with remote printing to Mac clients, you use the GoToMyPC Print Assistant instead of the standard 'gotomypc printer' that Windows-Windows uses.
The steps are as follows, can you confirm this is set?
- Go to Control Panel > Program and Features
- Uninstall GoToMyPC Print Assistant
- Uninstall all NovaPDF Programs/Components showing
- Navigate to C:\Program Data\GoToMyPC\PDFPrinterSetup
- Double click PDFPrinter to run MSI and wait until completion
- Double click PDFPrinterDriver to run MSI and wait until completion
- Check if Print Assistant and NovaPDF components are showing in Programs and Features
- Check Devices and Printers to see if Print Assistant is listed
- Test printing with Print Assistant from Mac client
Note: If you are part of a Corporate account, please ensure that File Transfer is enabled. If File transfer is disabled, then Print Assistant cannot work.
IF THE ABOVE STEPS DO NOT WORK, please try the steps below:- Visit NovaPDF's downloads page (www.novapdf.com/previous-versions.html)
2. Click Download next to 'novaPDF 11' (other versions will NOT work)
3. Double click 'novapdf-full.exe'
4. Follow prompts to complete the installation
5. Navigate to C:\Program Data\GoToMyPC\PDFPrinterSetup
6. Double click 'PDFPrinter' and follow prompts to completion
7. Double click 'PDFPrinterDriver' and follow prompts to completion
9. Navigate to Control Panel\Programs\Programs and Features
10. Check that "GoToMyPC Print Assistant" is listed
11. Right click novaPDF11
12. Click Uninstall
13. Test printing with Print Assistant on Mac clientNote: In some cases, you might also need to start the NovaPDF Service, if it's not running for some reason.
If this isn't resolving the issue, you can reach out to the support team who can take a deeper look into your system.
