Graphics disappear when monitor is off or disconnected

We have a medical imaging workstation that shows advanced graphics (3D scans of patients) using an NVidia Quadro M4000 for display and an Nvidia Quadro M5000 for GPU compute.  We have a Wacom 27 QHD screen attached via DisplayPort.

The problem comes when we switch off the monitor, or disconnect it.  We can connect with GotoMyPC fine, and most of the graphics elements display, but the more advanced graphics (patient scans) do not display, there's just a black rectangle in the user interface where they should be.

Is this likely to be a problem with the medical imaging software, or with GotoMyPC?  Has anyone come across anything similar?

Hi CyberAccess welcome to the GoTo Community,

If the monitor is connected to the video card that should be rendering the missing images and the images are only displayed when the monitor is on, it sounds like it may be an issue with the application since GoToMyPC is still showing the screen when connected, but some of the elements are blank/not being rendered when the display is turned off.

Instead of turning the monitor have you tried enabling the screen blanking feature in GoToMyPC?

We need to run this in a headless environment, so we cannot have a monitor plugged in and blank.

If we VNC to the host from another, then the graphics remain on display when the monitor is unplugged.  But on GotoMyPC, the graphics disappear when the monitor is unplugged, then reappear when the monitor is plugged back in.
