Run Hamachi on Raspberry OS Bookworm

Hi there,

I run about 200 instances of Hamachi on raspberry pi zero WH's. Now its time to update the software to Raspberry OS Bookworm so I can add some camera features.
When I to install hamachi (https://www.vpn.net/installers/logmein-hamachi_2.1.0.203-1_armhf.deb) and try to start it I get this:

~ $ sudo hamachi
Illegal instruction

I just updated and upgraded the newly backed image. What is it that goes wrong? And is there a way to fix it?

On the old image I used the armEL version but that also seems not to work anymore and does not have my preference.

Is there an update on this?

You are adding to the ever-growing list of software providers who have had access to Bookworm for long enough to update and test your software.

This is what I am getting. Raspberry Pi 5 with the latest Bookworm:

    pelican@pi:~ $ uname -a
    Linux pi 6.6.28+rpt-rpi-2712 #1 SMP PREEMPT Debian 1:6.6.28-1+rpt1 (2024-04-22) aarch64 GNU/Linux
    pelican@pi:~ $ sudo dpkg -i logmein-hamachi_2.1.0.203-1_armhf.deb
    Selecting previously unselected package logmein-hamachi:armhf.
(Reading database ... 145142 files and directories currently installed.)
    Preparing to unpack logmein-hamachi_2.1.0.203-1_armhf.deb ...
    Unpacking logmein-hamachi:armhf (2.1.0.203-1) ...
    Setting up logmein-hamachi:armhf (2.1.0.203-1) ...

    /etc/init.d/logmein-hamachi: 46: /opt/logmein-hamachi/bin/hamachid: not found
    pelican@pi:~ $ ls /opt/logmein-hamachi/bin

We really need this to be fixed we have a large network of nodes across several networks and moving it all over to tailscale will be a mission please fix this asap. We really love hamachi but this needs to be sorted out

    hi GlennD

We, too, have quite a few units on Bookworm awaiting to be on Hamachi. Do you have any updates ?

    Thank you,

    Alphaone

I've got a number of new installations and can no longer install Hamachi using older distro's as Bookworm is now minimum requirement for our hardware.

Do you have any workarounds while you work on a new installer package?

StephanF,  after a lot of testing we have a path to supporting the new Bookworm OS, however we will not be able to implement it until next year, 2024. For now our recommendation is to delay upgrading to Bookworm if possible.

StephanF We are testing some new builds with Raspbian 12 Bookworm currently, once we have a stable release I will post an update.

    Hi Glenn,

That would be great! I'm depending on your remote controll solution at the moment 🙂
