Cannot view remote server screen

I am trying to control some files on the remote server and I have success logging into the remote server, but when I see the remote desktop's screen there is always a huge white box blocking most of the screen and the finder's tabs (File, Edit, View, etc) are not visible. Connecting Mac to Mac.
