One speaker goes out when connecting to GoToWebinar

I'm on a MacBook Pro (OS X 10.9.4) ...signing in as meeting organizer.

Just recently when my computer is making the connection with GTW, my left computer speaker pops a couple times then goes out completely. So when I'm in the program I can only hear out of the right speaker. Others in the meeting say I sound fine so I think my mics are working. Then when I end the meeting and close out my speakers make the popping sound again and then work fine when I play any videos or music in other programs.

It's something in the GTW application start up that is doing this. Is there a fix?

Re: One speaker goes out when connecting to GoToWebinar

Hi,

I have an update on this issue and why it seems to affect only some Mac users. It appears that some MacBooks have their microphone located very near one of their speakers, this causes issues with the echo cancellation in the audio so it mutes the speaker.

Re: One speaker goes out when connecting to GoToWebinar

Hi Heather,

If you connect headphones into the headphones jack, do they do the same thing as your speakers?

I don't typically use headphones so I have not tried. I can try...

Re: One speaker goes out when connecting to GoToWebinar

I have this same problem since the latest version of Goto with my windows machine. The minute I connect I can only hear out of the right ear piece.  It's been getting worse and worse. Over the last year, support for 7.1 surround head as failed, you now have to do workarounds and now just one headset works. Very disappointed with whoever upgraded the tools and didn't take into account the various types of hardware on headsets.

Re: One speaker goes out when connecting to GoToWebinar

I had this issue as well on Win 7 using a Logitech G930 headset.  I was able to resolve it with these steps, hopefully it works for someone else:

(1) Go to playback devices
(2) Go to properties of your headset
(3) Click the "enhancements" tab
(4) Check the box for "Speaker fill" and hit OK
(5) Now either restart G2M, or just change to phone audio then back to computer audio again

After this audio played from both ears.

Re: One speaker goes out when connecting to GoToWebinar

Do you have actual speakers connected or are you using headphones/headset? What kind of connection?

Re: One speaker goes out when connecting to GoToWebinar

Just the built in speakers of the Macbook Pro... 4 others in my office with the same laptop have confirmed as well.

Re: One speaker goes out when connecting to GoToWebinar

I, too, am having this problem with an OSX Macbook and GoToMeeting playing audio over the built-in laptop speakers. Only the right speaker plays. Other audio plays fine out of both.
