No 'Install ActiveX Control' option - and black screen

On a refurbished Dell Win7 laptop, when I try connecting to a host, I'm prompted to Click 'Install ActiveX Control...', but there's no bar at the bottom. I can 'Click here to continue' for the list of Computers, but when selecting any of them, I get a black screen. Thoughts?

    PFDG3  Hi Pete,

    Activex is typically a plugin for Explorer.  If this is a problem there, have you been able to test alternate web browsers yet?
