Forwarding calls w/ ring group
For some reason when I enable call forwarding (*72) I need to have my first step on the dial plan be a direct line. If I do a ring group first the calls just go through like normal without forwardin...
Think I understand what you are looking for, create an extension say 701, in the dial plan of extension 701 set it to ring simultaneously for 0 seconds and set the if no answer and if the call fails to be the dial plan/ring group you want - you can also pass through caller id
Now dial *72701

I create a new extension 701. I set up the follow me to dial to the external number. But it just keeps hanging up right away.
How about this..
Assign ext 701 as a secondry extension to an existing user, this will then put two accounts on their device.
On the device program a key as being a line key for the secondry extension, now when they want to forward the calls they press that line key and dial *72external number
So on mine I have Yealink phones, so I set dss key 2 as a line key, label as Night/lunch whatever, and the line as Line2, they then press that button and do the normal forwarding.
My full setup is, during day time all calls are sent to extension 701, 701 is set to simultanisly ring for 0 rings and on no answer send calls to the desired Dial Plan or if fails also send to the Dial Plan - this means that all calls are sent to the dial plan as no one answers 701 within 0 rings.
I have then programmed a button on receptions extension called Night, this button is programmed as above, it's a line key that is set to use the 2nd account on the device ( ext 701) when they press this they dial *72externalnumber and thats it.
Now when any calls come through at night they come to extension 701 and rather than just getting no answer after 0 rings and being sent to the dial plan, they instead follow the forwarding.
I did program 2 buttons on reception, one dials *72number using line2 and the other button dials *73 using line2 to cancel it.
My brain can't comprehend how you have this set up lol. I put the extension 701 as a second account on the user like this.
And my 701 extension looks like this.
What I'm not understanding is how you configure the buttons on the actual phone.
This is my setup..
Main number comes in and goes to 701 night mode all the time..
701 does the following all the time (001 is my dial plan)..
701 is assigned as a secondry extension to reception..
Here is my phone setup, as you can see line key 3 is set to use Line2 (which is the secondry extension assigned to the user) line1 their primary extension.
I could have just had another desk phone for extension 701 but I didn't want two phones on reception.
