Re-Arrange Categories

The ability to re-arrange our categories by either drag and drop or even an up and down arrow would be a great addition. Currently, the only way to re-arrange the ticket categories is by renaming them (which then changes all the tickets that category is associated with) or deleting all of the ones below where you want to put the new one in the list.

 

It makes it very tedious to keep the categories in alphabetical order for ease of use for our end users.

    Hi jdlangwell,

     

    We are planning on releasing an improved version of the Category field in the ticket editor which will be sorted alphabetically and will be searchable as well.

    Will it also be searchable on the end user's side and not just the agents? That is what we really want done.

    I would like this and also the ability to re-order the columns.

  • Rearranging categories by dragging and dropping or using up and down arrows would greatly enhance usability. Currently, the only options are renaming categories, which affects all associated tickets, or deleting and recreating categories to adjust their order. This process is tedious and complicates keeping categories in alphabetical order for user convenience. Implementing a more flexible rearrangement feature could significantly streamline the process. Just as incorporating dua e qanoot into our routines can bring spiritual ease, an improved system for category management would simplify organizational tasks.

    Hi jdlangwell,

     

    On the agent console (https://www.console.gotoresolve.com) the categories are always put in alphabetical order.

     

    Indeed, on the customer portal where users can create tickets (https://www.helpdesk.me/tickets) the categories work differently, thank you for bringing this to our attention. We will sort the categories automatically here as well, and I will discuss with the design team how we can improve the sorting generally.

     

    Regarding that, how would you like to sort the category values in the field? Alphabetically, or a custom order?
