Download free Desktop App on Win 11 not Web Browser

Hi there,

I have always had GoToWebinar desktop app on my previous desktop pc that I could join webinars via the app, not my Chrome browser, but have recently bought a new laptop with Win 11.

I am trying to download the app from the site, but everytime I download, asks me for join ID and takes me to a web page on my Chrome browser which I don't want. Any help appreciated.

Cheers

Gary

    Hi Kate, Glenn,

Thank you, out of chance, I had another webinar this morning for my professional CPD, and clicked the link to access, and lo and behold, the Go To Webinar app opened after a web page opened and asked me if always wanted to access via the app.

This is the first time this has come up and worked, that I was able to attend the webinar via the app.

Fingers crossed keeps working, otherwise will be back and to chat to support.

    Cheers

Thank you Glenn, I will give support a call to set up a test webinar to see what is happening.

Is the toll-free support 24/7 or just working hours Mon to Fri?

    Cheers

    Gary

    Hi Glenn,

Thank you for your help thus far.

I had a webinar I needed attend this morning, I did as you said, clicked the link and still opened in a Chrome tab unfortunately despite having the GoTo Opener app installed.

Something I have done or am doing wrong.

I forwarded the webinar event to my work laptop email and was able to join the webinar on an app it downloaded and installed.

No joy at home, where I watch most, keeps opening in a Chrome tab.

As I say, something is wrong or something I am doing.

I have another webinar to attend at 12 noon tomorrow and will be wfh.

    Thank you

    Gary

The GoTo Opener is the app that checks for and installs the desktop software when you join a webinar. It also launches the desktop software whenever you join a webinar in the future, so you should be set and ready to go for any webinars you have registered for.

    Thank you GlennD,

Am I right in saying, the app I install is the GoTo Opener as below screenshot? Or is there an app that I can't find called GoTo Webinar?

And then when wanting to join a webinar, will this then be what we used to call GoTo Webinar?

Asking as after I joined the Webinar this morning, whilst on the webinar in a chrome tab, with it running, I tried downloading and launching what I thought was the app and kept opening successive chrome tabs even though had ticked the box for the desktop app. Maybe it recognised was already on the webinar on web, that it just kept opening further tabs.

What I did notice, that after downloading what I thought was the app, it kept disappearing from my downloads folder?

Hopefully what I have downloaded now at the screenshot below the first is correct. I don't see anywhere that says GoTo Webinar?

    Many thanks for your help

    Gary

Hi garybravo, welcome to the community.

When you join a GoToWebinar for the first time (or on a new computer), it will check to see if the desktop software is installed already and install it for you before you're connected to the webinar. Then the next time you join a webinar it will see the software and launch it automatically.
