Fresh New Look Coming March 23, 2015
Hi there, GoToAssist community!
We've got some exciting news to share with you today. Over the past few months, our team of developers and user experience pros has been hard at work refreshing the look of GoToAssist Service Desk. The new design sets the stage for some exciting new features (watch for these later this year), and gets us one step closer to achieving the finest customer experience imaginable across the entire GoToAssist product lineup. Our goal is to make your job easier, and we believe the fresh new design does just that.
The new design rolls out system-wide on March 23, 2015.
About the new design:
New colors, fonts, and spacing
Although the layout hasn't changed (more on that in a minute), we've enhanced the design on multiple fronts.
Colors – A brand new color scheme helps delineate key areas of the product so you can focus on what’s most important.

Fonts – Varied font sizes improve readability and emphasize important labels and headings.

Spacing – Ample, uniform spacing adds volume to the design and simplifies scanning so you can quickly find what you need.

Same familiar layout
Don’t worry – all the features you depend on are exactly where they were before. We’ve got some really great ideas brewing, but we’ve kept the same familiar layout for now.
Get a sneak peek
If you want to check out the new design right away, it’s easy to do. In GoToAssist Service Desk, go to: Configure > Account-Wide Settings > Labs, and then check the “Enable the new look” box. Otherwise, we’ll take care of it for you automatically on March 23.
Creating great products is what all of us here at Citrix aim to do. Our hope is that this new design will make your job easier by helping you focus on what’s important and get things done faster. We’re really excited about this, and hope you love the new design as much as we do.
If you have feedback or suggestions, we want to hear from you. Reply to us here, use the Feedback link inside the product (top right), or email our support team anytime at support@gotoassist.com.

Thanks so much for the feedback over this past week. The feedback provided has been invaluable and we'll be taking a lot of it into consideration as we continue to work on the final iteration over the next week.
In particular we've heard that the contrast doesn't really lend itself well on older displays, so we have immediately gone out and acquired older laptops and will continue have them floating around our office as test machines for the design team moving forward.
We're also formulating a plan on the best way to address the issues raised. In particular, contrast, spacing and readability are the major themes at the moment, and will feed everything we've heard so far into the final iteration.
The feedback received so far has been truly overwhelming, and is reassuring to know that we can count on receiving feedback directly from our users while these features are still in development and being finalised, rather than hypothesize what may or may not work best. You've played a massive part in helping us narrow our focus, and put the final polish on the new look.
Please keep the feedback coming in, and be specific about what you like and don't like, we are listening and taking it all into consideration. We're planning to have the major issues addressed in time by the 23rd. - Bcshay11 years agoActive ContributorAll they need to do is fix the spacing. I think we all agree from a visual perspective we are loosing the ability to quickly view ample information on a single page without scrolling.
- Joshua Davidson11 years agoActive ContributorI tried the zoom but now we're making the text hard to read just to fit an extra half issue on the screen. We're going from 9 to 3.5 visible tickets on the dashboard. I don't really understand the need for "ample spacing" when I only have so much room on my screen and keep 5+ consoles throughout the day.
As an IT person I know people are naturally opposed to change but I'm still looking for the upside to this one. What are the advantages to this change? As it stands, it appears to be a cosmetic improvement in exchange for a loss of efficiency and honestly I don't have the time in my day to spare efficiency for appearance. - Bcshay11 years agoActive ContributorChange is good. The flat design is where everything has/is moving. If it's the spacing that kills it for you I'm sure Luke will work with you on that.
I think the majority agrees the spacing is a little excessive. - Bcshay11 years agoActive ContributorCool. Just wanted to make sure you didn't over look that detail.
- Luke Grimstrup11 years agoRetired GoTo ContributorJason - great short-term workaround!
Regarding the right hand menu, we're not likely to make this floating. We are however working on releasing a new labs feature soon that breaks the "Discussion" out into it's own tab (beside Tasks) with the additional option to sort comments chronologically or reverse-chronologically, reducing the need to scroll on those lengthy discussions to see the last comment. - Luke Grimstrup11 years agoRetired GoTo ContributorHi Jackie,
It's important to note that after the 23rd we will be rolling out the new look for everyone. The Labs Feature is an opportunity to provide feedback so we can improve upon it before making the default look. If you could elaborate a bit more with the reasons why you don't like the new look we'll definitely take your feedback into consideration. - Luke Grimstrup11 years agoRetired GoTo ContributorThere are plans for the Customer Portal which is why it's been untouched for now. We too also want to drive adoption of the customer portal and separate initiatives to improve that part of the product.
- Luke Grimstrup11 years agoRetired GoTo ContributorNot as part of the March 23rd release.
- rob11111 years agoActive ContributorBeen thinking the same.
When in an incident, the right hand menu with customer details, tags, time etc, it could do with being floating. If the ticket is lengthy in communication it's a very looong scroll back and forth to add time etc.
