LinkedIn Live Stream Help

I've been trying all day to get GTW to Live Stream on our LinkedIn event.

I've started by following this: https://support.goto.com/webinar/help/how-do-i-live-stream-my-webinar-to-other-platforms-like-youtube-and-facebook (and in the process i've probably read all LinkedIn pages on the topic)

The video in the GTW article is about how to setup a youtube live stream and it is 4 years old. Sadly it does not show a video of how this is supposed to work for LinkedIn. The GTW explanation in text is very short and doesn't do much more as pointing to where the live stream option is.

To connect LinkedIn i've tried 2 methods. After setting a webcast i first try to connect LinkedIn stream in the settings. This resulted in a difficulty that the company i work for has multiple LinkedIn pages, and i'm an admin for all of them. Maybe that was why my first test failed.

I then created a new linkedin account, that had only 1 admin page attached. I was able to connect as an organisation but then the stream never connected.

Then i read LinkedIn and GTW need the user to have the same email (is that true??), Inconvenient but i tried that, still no luck in connecting the stream.

Then i turned my attention to a Custom connection. LinkedIn provides me the 'Stream URL' and 'Stream Key'. GTW however als asks for a 'Stream Page URL', not sure what to fill there for LinkedIn. I've tried the company URL, the event URL and even the Live Studio URL. No luck.

I've tested at least 10 times, all different solutions and i'm simply out of ideas. The company page is qualified for live streaming as i am allowed to create a live event on LinkedIn.

Are there people who have recently succesfully live streamed GTW on LinkedIn?

And would anyone know if there is a more detailed guide on GTW -> LinkedIn live streaming? preferably something that is not 4 years old.

I'm really sorry to hear this and for all the steps you have had to perform.

We do support Linkedin streaming. I've requested our support team contact you and walk through the set-up process.

I am also sharing this feedback with the team. I really appreciate the follow-up post, so we know we need to dig in further to see what may be causing the issue.

Thank you KateG , It took me a while to get in contact with LinkedIn event support, they are definitely not as fast as you.

Sadly LinkedIn Events did not help me solve this issue. They were simply pointing out all the steps i already did before.

As a result i've tried a different webinar host. I'm sorry to say, their RTMP connection allowed me to stream the webinar directly on LinkedIn in the first try. I can not make any other conclusion than that GoTo can't connect to LinkedIn Live Events using RTMP.

I'll drop my email and the response i got from LinkedIn in a message to you.

    Hi TomasS1

I see that the team reached out to you via email requesting you try contacting LinkedIn, because we tried most of the available troubleshoots and there seems to be an obstacle specifically with Linkedin. Can you try that and let us know how it goes?

Thanks for your help so far KateG

I did a test for Youtube as mentioned and was able to stream GTW to YT easily.

Will they contact me with a message on this account? Otherwise, please let me know if i can leave my contact details somewhere. We own 4 accounts on GoTo and it might not end up on my desk.

Thanks for getting back to me. It seems like the best route for now would be to speak with a support agent who can review your settings and ensure everything is set up properly. I've gone ahead and created a support case for you, someone from our team will reach out soon.

As a diagnostic step, you may want to try streaming to another RTMP platform (like YouTube or a free RTMP server) to verify your GoTo Webinar is properly pushing the stream. This would be helpful to know.

Let me know if you have any further questions or comments.

Thank you for your reply KateG

In this post  LinkedIn states that if i can select the 'LinkedIn Live' event format the page should be eligible. The new LinkedIn account i created was admin on a company page that was eligible. All the (test) events i created in LinkedIn were all 'LinkedIn Live' events

I've tried the custom option too, several times. I copied the stream URL and Stream Key to the GTW settings. When i press start broadcast it even shows me a confirmation that 'live streaming initiated successfully'

However in LinkedIn the stream never shows, and that 'Go Live' button in the top right remains greyed out

    Hi TomasS1

Nice seeing you and thanks for the detailed post.

In order to live stream to LinkedIn, your account must be enabled with LInkedIn Live. If it isn't, learn how to apply. Can you verify if the account has been enabled? I'm wondering if the new account may not be eligible.

I've seen the error message about multiple accounts before, it can be resolved by contacting LinkedIn, or as a workaround, you can try the Custom" option as outlined in my post here
