webm file no image just sound: why?

Hello,

After a successful recording, cameras and mics checked, and good connections, the output file has no image. Just sound. Why and how can I fix the file and get video + sound.

Thank you, House of Ethics - new user

Hi @Houseofethics welcome to the GoTo Community. Webcams aren't supported when it's a local recording. If you weren't sharing something on screen, there would be no image on the screen. Cloud recordings do show webcams. You can read more about this here

Thank you very much for your reply, @KateG!

Is there nevertheless a way to retrieve the recording from support? A copy from the server. It was one hour interview with an opinion leader which can't be rescheduled
Thank you for your kind help,

Hi @sakeleo213, welcome to the community.

The fix is to make sure you are using Cloud Recording and not Local Recording if you want to capture the webcams. With Local Recording, nothing is saved to our servers, so there is nothing to be recovered. The reason we do not capture webcams in Local Recordings is it is a separate video stream with a much higher refresh rate compared to screen sharing. Trying to include them in the Local Recording often resulted in a negative impact on Presenting as the Presenter's computer would struggle to have enough resources.
