GoTo Meeting Freezes After 15–20 Minutes During Discussions
I’ve been using GoTo Meeting for team discussions for quite a while, but recently I’ve run into an issue that I can’t seem to figure out. During my scheduled discussion sessions, everything starts off fine—people are able to join, audio connects, and screensharing works for the first few minutes. However, after about 15–20 minutes, either my audio cuts out completely or the entire meeting freezes on my end. The strange part is that attendees are still in the session, but they say my feed goes silent or frozen while I can still hear them faintly or sometimes not at all. At first, I suspected this might be an internet bandwidth issue on my side, but I’ve tested my connection multiple times and I consistently get stable speeds (well over 200 Mbps download and 50 Mbps upload). I’ve even tried connecting over both Wi-Fi and Ethernet on different occasions, but the problem remains the same. Other video conferencing apps I use (Zoom, Teams, Google Meet) work without this freezing, which makes me think it’s something specific to GoTo Meeting. I also tried reinstalling the GoTo Meeting desktop app, clearing cache, and running the web version as a test. Oddly enough, the issue occurs in both the desktop app and the browser version, although it happens slightly less frequently in the browser. I made sure I’m always running the latest version of the app, and I even uninstalled/reinstalled to reset everything, but the problem keeps returning whenever I host discussions longer than 15–20 minutes. Another thing I noticed is that screen sharing seems to trigger the issue more often. If I’m just using audio and webcam, it sometimes works fine for the full session. But once I start sharing slides or switching windows during a presentation, that’s when my GoTo Meeting tends to crash or freeze the most. The frustrating part is that my CPU and GPU usage are not spiking—they remain fairly low, so it doesn’t appear to be a performance bottleneck on my computer. I’ve looked into firewall and security settings as well. I use Windows Defender on my system, and I even tested by temporarily disabling it during a meeting to see if that was blocking traffic, but it didn’t help. I also made sure my router doesn’t have any QoS rules or network blocking enabled that could interfere with GoTo Meeting. Still, the same issue happens across different networks (home, office, even a mobile hotspot), so I’m starting to wonder if this is an account-level or software-specific bug. Has anyone else run into GoTo Meeting discussions freezing or audio dropping specifically after 15–20 minutes, especially when screen sharing is involved? Is there some advanced network setting, port, or configuration I need to adjust for GoTo Meeting to work smoothly? Or could it be related to the recent updates of the platform? I’d really appreciate any troubleshooting advice, because this issue is making my longer meetings and team discussions almost impossible to manage. Sorry for the long post!emilywatson46 minutes agoNew Contributor3Views0likes1CommentRecording doesn't show full PowerPoint
I have had this problem again. I wasusing MacBook Pro 2022 and trying to record presentations with powerpoint (16.78.3 powerpoint for mac) slides on presenter view. I was using a Meeting Owl, which worked fine. I shared each individual powerpoint presentation. However, on the recording, only a single slide (usually the first) can be seen throughout the talk. The speaker is visible and audible. It is disappointing that the slides have not been displayed/advanced.hallf22 hours agoNew Member27Views0likes2CommentsDuring conference call, muted attendees unexpectedly become UNmuted when an attendee joins online
Hello all, We use GoToMeeting exclusively in "phone call" mode only for callers listening to our church service. The organizer and attendees dial in by phone call, for which this user guide applies: https://support.goto.com/meeting/help/how-do-i-manage-my-phone-audio-with-keypad-commands We very much depend on it running well unmonitored\unattended once the Organizer has started the call and muted all the participants. We have had this working great for over 5 years until a couple months ago :( We also regularly have an attendee that joins "online" via GoTo online/computer audio/VOIP. I am not sure when this began, not the full 5 years, but many months with no problem. PROBLEM: - Organizer starts the meeting by phone call and mutes all participants such that they can not unmute themselves - Attendees start to join by phone. All are muted. So far so good. - An attendee joins online/by link (rather than phone), using computer/VoIP audio. - This ends up "resetting" attendees by phone and DISABLES previously set Muting. Now, all participants are UNMUTED. This is the problem. It sure seems to be a defect. Yes, toggling *5 again will mute all participants, but we count on it working without having to be monitored, as it did for years. Yes, hosting it online/from computer/mobile app gives the organizer control to mute all participants within the app, but this is not an acceptable workaround for our use case and again, it worked fine for years. This was replicated on a GoToMeeting support call and is being tracked in a ticket but in the meantime is this something experienced by others? Something already known or being fixed by the development team? Thanks, -Johnjohns8226 days agoNew Member39Views0likes2CommentsRecord button gray-out if meeting has password
We have GotoMeeting pro version. Local/cloud recording works fine. But lately we encounter this strange problem. If we setup password for the meeting room, then the RECORD button will gray out and not allow us to record the session. We try with web app and desktop app version of Gotomeeting but the result is the same. If there is a password for the meeting room, RECORD button is gray out. No password then RECORD button will be visible and we can record the session. Anyone encounter this issue ? Hi: The new app does not allow me to unmute all participants at the click of one button. This makes it very difficult as I am unable to control the meeting and allow the participant that I want to allow to speak to be unmuted.Solvedrobincares222 months agoNew Member253Views0likes5CommentsSubscribe to this post for Allowlisting and Firewall Configuration Updates
