How to install Logme123 client silently and provide all permissions for remote support?
Here is the use case: - We have servers that non-IT staff don't have login access - An application is running on the server - From time to time, we need vendor support to troubleshoot the application - At this time, IT needs to sign into the server, use the code vendor support provided, install logmein123 client, and grant vendor support remote access - This business runs 24x7, and IT cannot be readily available 24x7 So, the company IT needs a way to - Give non-IT staff access to install logmein123 on the server without logging into the server - During the installation process, automatically embed the 6 digit codes provided by vendor support and grant all permission (Optional) Kill the session after vendor support completes troubleshooting --- vendor support always does it. So, it's optional, not a requirement. I have written a PowerShell GUI that runs psexec from a controlled environment that staff has access. I can use psexec to install logmein. But how to do #2 above (the 6 digital codes & permission)? Thanks.satech8 days agoNew Contributor473Views0likes4CommentsUnable to record video in MRLE format
We want to record sessions with LogMeIn. Sometimes we want to share recorded videos with customers. Some customers have security restrictions preventing them from running AVICodec.msi (also, as far as built in apps, the codec only works for Windows Media Player Legacy not the new Windows Movies & TV/Photos/Media Player apps). Not all customers use Windows and it's just plain bad customer service to require the customer to install something just to play a video. We are fine recording using Microsoft RLE (MRLE) (even though it has significantly reduced quality and, as far as built in apps, only works with Windows Media Player Legacy). But I have encountered the following issue: 1. Set AVI -> Microsoft RLE (MRLE) for a group in the Administration Center and save the change. 2. Make sure to log out of LogMeIn Technician Console to make sure the changes have applied. 3. Start a new session, install applet, connect to it, etc... 4. Click Screen Recording. 5. The output file is still in RASC format. I know this because a machine that doesn't have the codec installed can't play it in Windows Media Player Legacy. I also run ffprobe on the file and it shows that the file has rasc encoding but if I run it on a file that has been converted to MRLE from RCREC with LogMeIn Rescue AVI Converter (installed via AVIConvert.msi) it will run in Windows Media Player Legacy and ffprobe doesn't show RASC encoding. I am able to configure a group to record in RCREC format and convert to MRLE with the LogMeIn Rescue AVI converter, but I would like to avoid requiring our technicians to do this process for every file. The AVI converter seems to crash, produce unreadable file, or produce a very distorted video if using a video in RASC format as input and converting to MRLE. I know ffmpeg is able to transcode RASC to other formats, but I'm not sure if we need permission from LogMeIn or some other party to legally be able to do that. Either way I can't install ffmpeg on our workstations or create a server to submit ffmpeg jobs to. It would be very nice if setting to record with MRLE format actually worked.000000000012 days agoNew Contributor130Views0likes4CommentsHow to execute PS1 files as Rescue Scripts (template)
The execution of Rescue scripts needs some special knowledge from the script writers, especially when the applet side script or binary is not a directly executable code. Such are PowerShell scripts, those cannot be directly started from command shell. Earlier scripts with extension PS1 could be started, but not now. I have created a template that consists of two components, a starter scrip (CMD) and a PowerShell Script (PS1) as a resource. The template is also an example for - delaying the clean up of the applet, until the PS1 script really ends - logging for the command, and collecting the logs for the log shown in the TC - break out from the hidden-no UI state of scrips preferred by the applet.jozsef_sarosi15 days agoGoTo Contributor427Views1like3CommentsFeature Request: Rescue Live Lens Timeout

Sometimes when I attempt to connect to a machine where I have Unattended Access, the connection fails for some unknown reason. Why isn't there a termination button? I have never seen a program like this that doesn't have a Stop / Quit / Cancel / End Session button. When I call LMI Tech Support, they can't tell me how to terminate a session either, and they act like waiting for it to eventually time out is an acceptable solution. This has been going on for a long time and LMI never fixes it. There should be an X at the end of the session line where I can terminate a session for any reason I want to. Not sure what happened, as everything was working fine a few days ago, but now every time I start a session, I get an error message saying that it is a UAC enabled device and that I have to restart the applet as a Windows System Service. In the Admin Center, I have 'Automatically start as Windows System Service: if customer has administrative rightsand UAC is enabled' checked on the channel and technician levels. I also tried it without checking, only checking one, etc. I've tried basically everything... So, what happens when I start a session is that right away I see that error. I can still chat back and forth. But if I click on Launch Remote Session, I still get the popup asking for permission, and I can see the remote session start for literally .3 of a second before automatically closing, along with the message, 'Forced screen recording file cannot be saved.
