Need to ensure that attendees cannot share webinar links via forwarding

We are running webinars and want to ensure that only registered attendees are in the webinar. I know that GoToWebinar generates unique webinar links for each registrant, but what can we do to prevent them from sharing the link and allowing unauthorized people to attend? Thanks!

Re: Need to ensure that attendees cannot share webinar links via forwarding

Hi Rachel,

Technically each attendee's unique join link can be used up to 3 times, this is in case the attendee experiences a technical issue and needs to rejoin the webinar or wishes to switch to a different device. It is possible to see if an attendee's join link is in use by more than one person, as they will appear in the attendee list each time. You can always dismiss an attendee: http://support.citrixonline.com/en_US/webinar/help_files/G2W040014?title=View+and+Manage+Attendees+%...

Re: Need to ensure that attendees cannot share webinar links via forwarding

This reply was created from a merged topic originally titled User2 Profile (name& email address under Preferences > General) are changed to Us....

User1 and User2

User 1 --> sends webinar link to User 2

User 2 opens the link to join the webinar | User1 is already in the webinar
( User2 should never be allowed to connect ).

Hours later User 2 --> opens GTM account using user2@example.com ( example email) as username and the password

User2 Profile ( name and email address under Preferences > General ) are changed to User1 name and email address.

Re: Need to ensure that attendees cannot share webinar links via forwarding

Hi, GoToWebinar attendee join links are unique and include their name, that is why if you use someone else's link you show up as them and the software remembers that name in the future, until you edit it. While we instruct attendees not to share their unique link, they do not expire after the first use as that would result in attendees having to re-register if they had a technical issue or needed to switch devices.

Re: Need to ensure that attendees cannot share webinar links via forwarding

- The email address and the name should never be changed.
- The link should expire after its first use
- It is strange that there is no verification in place based the email address when someone else joins another user webinar.

Re: Need to ensure that attendees cannot share webinar links via forwarding

I know this is an old post but we recently experienced manually approved registrants sharing their link and password for a recent webinar.  As noted, we could see two attendees with the same names and emails.  We chatted and asked who are you?  The ones who would not respond were dismissed.  Not ideal to have more than one person using a link.  Is it possible to place the second user with the same credentials in a waiting room or something until their access can be verified by a co-organizer?

@PAI931 It is not currently possible to manage a waiting room, though we are planning to release a restricted join-link security option in the near future, so that a confirmed link by the organizer will only allow a single usage in a designated period.
